Sarah's love of Pilates began 20 years ago after she started working with a STOTT PILATES instructor to help her rehab a particularly nasty ankle injury. She loves how quietly effective Pilates is and appreciates how it can be modified for every body - which is a specialty of the STOTT method. Sarah began her training in 2013 at BodyCenter Studios in Seattle, Washington and completed a 535+ hour certification to become a STOTT PILATES Level 2 Certified Instructor. Professionally she has managed a Pilates program at a luxury fitness center and has taught privates and small group classes at Pilates studios in Seattle, North Carolina, and New York. She also served as Adjunct Faculty at Elon University where she taught an academic Mat Pilates course for the Dance Department. In addition to her advanced STOTT PILATES certification, Sarah is an instructor for Total Barre, TRX, Pilates Suspension Method, Trigger Point Therapy, CORE Athletic Conditioning and Performance Training, and the MELT Method. Sarah has completed the necessary continuing education hours to be designated as a specialist in both Athletic Conditioning and Group Matwork. She is passionate about working with special populations and has years of experience training individuals with a multitude of conditions and disorders; she especially enjoys helping those preparing for or recovering from surgery.
Educationally Sarah holds a MAEd in Mental Health Counseling, an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health, and is a Certified Trauma Informed Weight Lifting Coach. Her background in the mental health field has fostered a strong desire to incorporate trauma informed methods into her training practice and enjoys studying the efficacy of mindful movement in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma.
When Sarah is not teaching Pilates as the Lead Instructor at Club Pilates, Poughkeepsie, you might find her playing tennis or walking around Beacon with her husband and their scruffy terrier, Buddy.
